Atlantic puffins are easiest to observe during summer days, after their unique chick is born. Both parents will take turns to fetch food for the young, one of them flying to the ocean while the other one will stand in front of the burrow where the chick is raised.

Atlantic puffin (Fratercula Arctica) Photo taken July 2016 1/1 Edition NFT Package includes Full size HD jpg and a signed copy of my book Lundi. For every NFT that will be collected, I commit on:

  • Planting 250 trees through «Give back to Nature» @GiveBckToNature
  • Distributing an extra 5% of profits to «Rif bird station» who studies and monitor birds in the north of Iceland (including the puffins).

About the author

I’m Phil Garcia, a French professional photographer living in the Westfjords of Iceland, the most remote region of the country. My images have been awarded in international photography competitions and displayed in the major European nature photography festivals. I also published 12 technical books about photography and 3 Fineart books about Iceland that have been sold over Europe.

I am also a guide for other photographers or videographers who want to meet wildlife in Iceland. In the last years, I took part in the making of several documentaries and commercials, as a location manager, photographer or videographer. For example, last winter I filmed for one of the latest projects from the BBC (to be broadcasted next year).

My biggest source of inspiration is the wild nature of Iceland and its conservation. During the last 10 years, I’ve been involved in scientific studies conducted by the Nature Institute of Iceland, and have widely documented the life of Arctic species like the Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) and the Puffin (Fratercula arctica).

May my art give back to nature, and especially to the vulnerable species of the Arctic regions.

Lundi, the Atlantic puffin collection image

Lundi is the Icelandic name of the Atlantic puffin, a medium size Alcidae (seabird) that can be found in circumpolar areas of the North Atlantic, from Canada to Norway. Puffins have an remarkable average lifespan of 25 years -for a bird the size of a pigeon- and lay only one egg per year. They are faithful to the same partner and always come back to nest in the same place every year. Sixty percent of the world’s population is nesting in Iceland, or around 3 millions couples. However, these numbers are quickly declining, mainly because of global warming and intensive fishing around the coasts that forces the fish to move North and the birds to cover bigger distances between their burrows and their fishing grounds, compromising the chances of a successful reproduction.

My Opensea collection features ten 1/1 NFTs of my most arty puffins pictures, gathered over the North of Iceland within the last ten years. See pictures descriptions for more info about extras and Giving back actions.
