I watched the light disappear. It wasn’t a sudden momentary thing. Not like someone pulled a switch and turned the lights off. No, it happened gradually, day after day. The light seeping into the night, slowly disappearing in the black sky, and with it every little thing I ever loved, every hope and every dream I had until there was nothing left but darkness. I’ve been wandering through the cold never-ending night for months trying to find at least a tiny spark. Empty houses, black windows. Gas stations that used to look like lighthouses in the sea of endless forest when you passed them by driving home at night. Shopping malls that were full of life and buzzing crowds. Everything stayed the same but the light was gone. Maybe I should’ve gone with it, maybe I was left here by mistake?
