Somewhere in my brain I mixed this lovely little glacial lake up with an area near Queenstown called Deer Park Heights. Both offer awesome views but this is more accessible. Deer Park Heights is not an area that is easy to get to. It is a private area that used to be open to the public a few decades ago where people could go to look at all sorts of animals that are running around. There are still a few buffalo here and there... and they may be the only buffalo in New Zealand. I don't think Kiwis understand how dangerous they can be.

One time in Yellowstone, there was a buffalo about 10 meters from the path. I was out there with my son and we had to get out of there because it was getting dark and we were worried about bears. So I decided to take the risk and walk by the buffalo and try to be as chill as possible. I was prepared to throw Ethan out of the way just in case we were charged. This is how dads have to think. Also, dads make a lot of bad decisions. Believe me.
