Most of the photos you see of the Great Wall are from reconstructed bits. This is the more natural part of the wall and it's amazing how nature is clawing it back under the earth. I walked along it for quite a long time toward the sunset. In many places, it was quite dangerous so I probably should not have been out here alone!

I also stayed a little too late and had to find my way back in the dark. Only after I returned did I find out in broken Chinese that I should not have been there. First, it's illegal, and second, there are many dangerous snakes and other creatures lurking about.
