This piece was inspired by our age of mindless consumerism and me looking at my own consumption. I’ve been doing a “No-buy” this year where I only buy essentials and occasionally art. It has given me such a sense of peace. Media keeps you teetering on the edge of confusion so you are easier to sell to by creating a fear of lack. I like to create pieces that remind me that an emotional and spiritual hole inside cannot be filled with stuff. It can only be filled by looking inward and creative expression. I’m also a massive fan of the trash compactor scene in Star Wars, something about that image always stuck in my mind as a kid. Play Attention at its core is about reworking, recycling and reinventing. Printing on vintage clothing gives garments new life that would otherwise go to landfill. The future is vintage. This is the first ever digital collectible by Play Attention as a premium digital artwork in 3D by ElmonX. Holders can view and interact with the collectible in Augmented Reality. Edition: 35 of 135
"This is my first venture into the world of NFTs. I wanted to create something that encapsulates our two approaches. I am very much a traditional media guy. I love the tactile nature of working on paper, sculpting etc. It’s fascinating to me that I am creating something physically that will become a completely digital asset. I like the NFT space for the way it satisfies your collecting instinct without you having to accumulate physical objects. I think the idea of ownership is going to change completely in the future. The name came from the ideas that were coming out of our collaboration and the large following I have been amassing."
