A photo depicting the day my mother had an intracranial hemorrhage when I was 14. After a long day of work she had went to lay down on the living room couch, she said she was really tired on account of working all day but didn’t feel like going to her bedroom, I asked if she needed anything and she uttered the words “I’m okay”

The following morning i walked out into the living room to see she was still laying on the couch, it almost looked like she hadn’t moved an inch. I asked how she was feeling and she again uttered the words “I’m okay”

I figured she must’ve been really tired so I decided to let her rest more and I proceeded on with my day. Later that evening after I came home I saw she was still laying on the couch and asked her for a 3rd time “Are you okay? Have you eaten anything?”

She didn’t move but again said the words “I’m okay”

I decided to turn her over and there she was, eyes wide open, with a lifeless stare so cold it almost felt inhuman, repeatedly uttering the words “I’m okay, im okay” like a recording out of time playing on loop. The woman who raised me was nowhere to be found and the words she uttered seemed only to come from one side of her mouth with her left eye looking as tho it was beginning to melt down to her neck.

I remember those coming months like the color of my own eyes and I’ll never forget the day I came to see her at the hospital and I asked how she was and she again uttered the words “I’m okay” followed by the question “Who are you?”
