Title : Lay Down in the Field
Artist : Sachie Nagasawa
Date : 3rd April 2020
Series : Elapsing Time Diary
Token : #16
Resolution : 4000 x 6000

A photographic diary of the first lockdown from March 15 to June 2, during which I photographed every day, of this extraordinary ordinary life. I took the time to observe, for 58 days, time passing, slowly but surely, and to live according to its rhythm.

2 years already. 2 years since the world went on a hiatus, with more than 3 billion people confined, in nearly 80 countries. From March 15 '20 to May 12 '20, I found myself on technical unemployment, confined.

Everyone seemed to react in their own ways on social networks. Lives were broadcasted from all corners of the world: music, sporting, cooking, anything to pass the time, to stay in shape, or simply in contact.

Naturally, I started to photograph every day of this unusual life. This "meanwhile" before the "world after", since I had the time. I wanted to remember those unique days, when time flowed by the glow of spring lights that stretched, lengthened, slowed down. As I watched the shadows rotate throughout the day, I realized how time slowly but surely flew. For 58 days, I observed it, played with it, and reflected on how much this break was precious, how precious was seeing the time passing by.
