This image was captured at one of the more 'dangerous' locations on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. I had researched this spot long in advance and was super excited to photograph it during our one week stay on this beautiful island in May 2022. During the evening we planned to arrive here to shoot sunset, the skies were lit up with stunning golden light. There was even a rainbow in the sky. It was nothing short of amazing. However, when we arrived at the very small parking lot for this location, it was filled right up and there was even a line of vehicles waiting to take a spot. After waiting a little while with no success, and seeing the beautiful light that surrounded us get even better, I decided to head elsewhere. After a few minutes of driving and feeling frustrated because I couldn't find a spot to shoot this amazing light, my wife suggested we give it one last go and head back to the spot to see if there was any parking available. I reluctantly decided to drive back and sure enough, she was right! A parking spot freed up for us just as we arrived. We jumped out of the car and sent it down to this beautiful spot just in time for sunset. It was amazing and the conditions were even better than I had imagined. Definitely a highlight of our trip.
