Created with the idea that as an artist it can be difficult to really "make it". We have to spend much of our lives working hard just to be noticed by the right people often times and that can also make this lifestyle / working life choice very "luck" based and more challenging than many other paths. It is often a test of endurance rather than skill itself, at least in modern times as we now view art is a comodity rather than something to think deeper about.

Parallel to this though, I believe that as artists it is our job to speak the harsh truths the world doesn't want to hear, many artists create much larger dialogue about the changes we need in order to cure societies sicknesses, whatever those may be. Art is often percieved as a form of activism, even when it doesnt discuss macro level topics, it often covers micro, in the form of personal expression so that we as people can introduce our life experience and perceptions to the world and explore our internal thoughts and feelings. This can result in the viewer feeling less alone or feeling a deep sense of connect.

Rags to Riches explores the dynamics between the grind of being an artist and the realities of who collects the pieces these up and coming artists create. What does it mean to "make it"? What does it mean to achieve ones goals if goals are always fluid? What does it mean to explore the world through your art and what does it mean to really view art?
