This tiny yet colourful pigmy seahorse can grow only up to a couple of centimetres and lives exclusively on gorgonian sea fans. They are the masters of camouflage and quite difficult to spot while diving. Their camouflage is so effective that believe it or not, they were only discovered in a lab when scientists were examining a gorgonian sea fan in 1969.

This particular shot was a hard one to achieve. These corals usually open it's bright pink polyps only when the current is strong. At the beginning of our dive, it was all normal and took us a while to spot them. Once found, I started shooting different seahorses on that coral for almost 30 mins. We were about to end the dive and out of nowhere, current started picking up. Whole fan opened up. We were struggling to keep up with the current and shoot. Luckily I got one in focus out of hundreds of bursts I took. Spring of 2019, what a memorable trip to Anilao.
