While New Zealand is known for its pristine lakes this little one is off the beaten track so I like to stay here in the camper van during the winter.

With so much rain in the preceding weeks it had overflowed and submerged the grove of trees. Streams of water wound their way between the trees and where you would normally be able to camp was completely submerged.

Sunset was looking average at best. With wind all day the chances of a reflection were slim.
The stream although only narrow still meant that I had to stand in it. One foot in the centre with water creeping into my boot and one on the side.
I wanted to be as low as possible so it looked almost as if the image was taken right on the surface, which meant that my position was precarious to say the least. You can imagine my delight when the sky lit up. It wasn't there for long, a few minutes at most, but then that's all you need.
