First discovered on March 17, 1852, by the famed Italian astronomer Annibale de Gasparis, 16 Psyche is the largest metal-rich M-type asteroid located in the asteroid belt.

Its origination brought forth numerous discussions within the space exploration community mainly in terms of theories related to the fate of humankind.

One of the most popular hypotheses suggests that the alien metals found within the asteroid will accelerate the scientific development of the human race and, thus, a prominent system of space transportation will finally be within our grasp.

Others argue that this is just an unfounded myth and nothing but a mere product of fantasy. Or perhaps their mere existence harbors an even greater threat to Earth itself?

For the time being, all we can do is wait for the space exploration mission to commence in 2026 and delve into the depths of our mortal psyches.
