Ink Water is my first official piece on Foundation. Ink Water was created using the tattoo style I am passionate about. It embodies the Japanese culture with depictions of the Oni Masks along with other traditional Japanese tattoo images. The water surrounding it is what gives the name meaning. Oni masks are actually very interesting in their meaning. Here are some interesting facts about the masks and their origins. These Oni characters are notoriously tricky and will think nothing of messing with someone they see as a gullible human. Oni Masks have roots in the Hindu-Buddhist belief system. For someone to carelessly wear a sacred symbol without any regard for the people who practice that doctrine can be very hurtful. Oni is part of a larger umbrella term known as the Yōkai. Yōkai is a group of what westerners may call goblins and ghouls. The word Yōkai is comprised of two parts: alluring chaos and apparition. Oni characters are often thought to be the cause of boutades and reversals.
