Cordillera Huayhuash is one of the most beautiful, yet unforgiving, mountain ranges that I have ever explored. I hiked 7 days straight through the treacherous peaks of the Peruvian Andes to capture this image. This was a high altitude trail so with every foot I climbed it became harder and harder to breath. Once I reached the max altitude of over 5000m I was exhausted and delirious yet fueled by adrenaline. When I finally reached these 3 emerald lakes tucked deep in the mountains my mind was absolutely blown. I have never seen a more epic display of nature. The colours depicted are exactly as they appear in real life. This experience meant so much to me that I even got the scene in this photo tattooed on my arm. I can truly say that I put my blood, sweat, and tears into getting this shot after countless miles spent in the backcountry, long days climbing over mountain passes and frigid nights sleeping under the stars. Behold one of the most special and rare images I have ever taken.
