Working for the winter season in the French Alps, I decided to make a trip to Zermatt on my days off. Without car, I reached the first big city of Switzerland doing some hitchhiking across the mountains, before to take a train till Zermatt.

When finally arrived, I was so excited that I took the first lift to go up till a lake spotted on Google.

As usual, being on spot hours before that the light start to be interesting, I dug a hole in the snow and set up the tent. Ready to spend a cold night out there, time for photography has come..

The lake was obviously frozen and totally covered by snow, but to my surprise, some water was still running on the surface, facing the Matterhorn.

As the sun passed under the edge of the mountain, crazy fire tones occurred in the sky, creating suddenly wonderful warm lights over this frozen landscape, at 2500m high.

A wonderful moment before to spend the night alone in the mountains by -20°C, with for only company the lights of the snow groomers.
