This photograph is part of my Rio de Janeiro series. I moved to the city and for a year I walked 10 kilometers every day along the beaches looking for scenes that represented Rio de Janeiro and the cariocas. I was enchanted by the game altinha (cultural heritage), by the soccer ball, by the intense energy, where everything seemed to be magical, where there is no social and cultural separation. No kind of difference between people, one of the most democratic and free places you can be. I tried to make the photograph seem to have movement as if it were a ballet and in the background, a wonderful setting, a perfect light reflecting on the silhouette of the city, the hills and the sea.
