Do we live in a ‘Matrix’-like illusion?
The Buddha settled that question two-and-a-half millennia ago with a resounding “yes.” That’s why so many people view The Matrix as a kind of Buddhist allegory. The Matrix itself is humanity’s self-constructed illusory prison of the mind-a handy metaphor for the Buddhist concept of samsara.
To know yourself is to forget yourself. We might think that knowing ourselves is a very ego-centered thing, but to forget yourself is to become enlightened by all things. When we are not so self-involved, we begin to realize that the world is speaking to us all of the time. Every plant, tree, animal, person, car, airplane is speaking to us, teaching us, awakening us. It’s a wonderful world, but we often miss it.
Being The One is just like being in love. Nobody can tell you you’re in love. You just know it. Through & through. Balls to bones.
