Of all the volcanoes on Earth, stratovolcanoes are the most dangerous. They can erupt with little warning, releasing enormous amounts of material. This is Mount Baker, also known as Koma Kulshan, a 10,871 ft active stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc.
Baker is in my backyard; this is one of my favorite viewpoints in the Cascade range and I hike this trail as often as I can in the summer when it's accessible via a gnarly dirt road. This is where I come to find solace in the wilderness.
