The crucial difference between existing art and NFT art is that in NFT, the work is expected to be permanent (although if we discuss it in detail, it cannot be strictly eternal). In existing art, there was a fierce struggle to preserve one's work for posterity. The artists would have been desperate to keep their names in the pages of art history. In NFT art, the permanence that those artists always wanted but could not achieve is given from the beginning. So, the question is what to leave behind in the face of that permanence.
