The beginning of a winter storm.
If you look into the image a little bit closer, you will see yaks roaming in the distance, as well as a few huts. Those huts are semi-permanent, the nomads move with them throughout the year. With no civilization to speak of, yak waste is used as heat, and milk and butter are essential in their diet. Some electricity is provided only by a mobile generator and an occasional solar panel.
Shot during a difficult trip to the inner China and Tibetan lands, which started from Chengdu, and travelling to the Tibetan Plateau to meet rugged landscapes.
This piece is now dedicated to friends and photographers who are clearing up debris as a result of Typhoon Rai, one of the strongest typhoons ever to hit that country. To directly support the community, the split is set up to provide funds to the local photographers. All the remaining proceeds will go to support other emerging photographers from the region.
