July 2020 saw the passing of Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE). This was the brightest comet visible in the northern hemisphere since the Great Comet Hale-Bopp in 1997.

The main components of this comet are the golden dust tail i.e., tons debris which is being blasted off the surface of the comet by the heat of the sun and left in its wake, the blue ion tail made of gas and ions being dragged from the comet by the suns magnetic field and the green coma formed by C2 escaping the comet and being excited by the sun. If you look closely in the bottom right, you will also see NGC 2841 which is 46 million light years away and larger than our own Milkyway.

The comet put on a staggering display with its tail visible easily to the naked eye spanning a length of sky larger than the big dipper. It will swing back around for another show in 6,800 years, I wonder what will it witness down here as it spins past?

A physical print will be made for the first collector should they wish it.
