This is one of my favorite photographs that I will never forget.
Although I am Japanese, I have never had the opportunity to photograph of Mt. Fuji. However, during the New Year holidays of 2021, I had the opportunity to do so when I stopped by the city of Mochimune in Shizuoka Prefecture on my way back to my wife's parents' home.
What I saw there was the fresh and clear colors of the sky that only the New Year can bring. The gentle and peaceful gradation of dusk. Mt. Fuji, standing quietly and powerfully in the distance. I was captivated by the simple beauty of this image.
I like the philosophy of "less is more". I thought it would be best not to include any unnecessary elements to preserve this impression. I took it as simple as possible.
