On November 4th, 2021, a rare G8 solar storm and once in a lifetime event exhibited nature's grandeur over the Canadian Rockies.

An electrical current ran through the sky as if it were streaming down from the heavens above. A flicker like pulsation feverishly exchanged colours, merging between brilliant green, purple, and pink in a violent but beautiful explosion of light.

I will never forget this magical night and the heart pumping flurry of activity that went in to capturing this image. This photograph has truly been a bucket-list hope of mine since moving to the mountains.

Vermillion Lakes is not only one of the most iconic views in Banff National Park, but it faces southeast, a feature not typically within reach of north facing lights. A testament to the strength and intensity of this incredible storm.

This is my favourite image and moment captured to date! Not to mention, a personal reminder and inspiration to continue the relentless pursuit of the impossible dream.
