There are parts of me - buried parts of me - that are not evident to me. I can’t see them. I am not conscious of them, and they have a huge impact on my life. They are often responsible for my patterns, the things I do that feel like I can’t help but make the same mistake over and over.

Why can’t I see all these parts of me? Because I am afraid of them. Because they reveal something painful. Because I work hard at placing the responsibility somewhere else. Anywhere except with me.

“Shadow work” is the work that’s done to better understand and eventually more clearly see our blind spots. It means asking ourselves the questions, noticing our own behaviors to become aware of what we are so desperately attempting to hide from ourselves.

This piece visualizes shadow work through algorithms. It tells the story of the deep work where we get lost, break and spiral into the darkness then pick ourselves back up, understand our dark sides. And then, it is all clear and harmonious in the end.
