We all have our attachments, whether its food, social media, drugs, alcohol or sex. It doesn’t really matter what your particular attachment is, you most likely have one. For me it is food. Having dived into competitive powerlifting, I started to really enjoy eating. Every hour you could find me with something in my hand chowing down on it. If I went more than an hour without eating I felt like I was starving. In reality that was far from the truth.
In May 2021 I wanted to challenge my attachment and see if I could break it. I decided to drive about 5 hours from my house and spend 3 days on my own completing a 72-hour water fast.
In the final hours of my fast I was shooting a sunrise scene that you can see in the above image. It was in those waning hours that I realised I had gone 3 days without consuming any food. This was also the best sunrise of the trip. I feel for me that this was the universe’ way of signaling to me that I can achieve what I put my mind too.
