“Gunung Agung” is the first of three images that comprise “The Genesis Series”.
Each of the images in this body of work represents a pivotal point in my creative career.
- “Gunung Agung” was captured in July 2021, shortly after finalising the process of establishing a creative business in Bali, and effectively switching my residency from Denmark to Indonesia to continue my creative pursuit.
I first visited Bali in 2017. In the following 2 years I returned more than 10 times, there was something about this island that drew me to it. In particular, Mt. Agung served as a creative magnet to me. I always found myself returning to the northeast region to witness the volcano from surrounding areas, and for some reason feeling a need to continuously capture its beauty from any and all perspectives I could find.
4 years later and I’m now living on this island, and still gravitate towards Mt. Agung every time I go out to take photos.
