Once upon a time, in a kingdom long forgotten, I was regent. My people lived humbly and we only knew peace. Until one day, a curse fell upon me. I lost my sight and we were consumed by darkness.
And where there is darkness there are those who reside in it.
It came to be that a demon plagued the path I walked on.
"Leave me demon! Go back from whence you came."
The demon laughed.
"Girl." He snickered. "I have been with you since the day you realized yourself. I was with you the first time you raised your hand in anger and the nights you cried to the stars. Unbeknownst to you… you have met me before and I know you, as you do."
With this knowledge, my chest became tight and I began to weep because in that moment, I understood the demon was of my own darkness. I had cursed myself and my own kingdom.
I caught the tears in my hands as they trickled down my face.
And so suddenly, where I once held my own tears, I now held a warm light...
