We have all experienced movement in nature, from rustling leaves to swaying grass to running water. Movement comes and goes like the wind, and mostly we sense it or feel it.

I wanted to capture that feeling when visiting this beautiful waterfall in northeast Iowa. The perception of movement can be difficult to capture with a camera. Stop the action too quick and it's frozen, but let the action unfold too long and you have a blur of blandness.

It took several tries to get this shot. For some reason, 1/10 of a second was the one. It captures the movement of water on a sunny, puffy cloud day, but also has some detail. It reminds me of a painting with the swoops of color carelessly applied to a canvas.

Hope you enjoy this movement in nature. It's one of my favorites. First collector also receives a 24 x 36 signed canvas print of this photo, which looks fantastic on any wall.
