I find the tendency to collect things to be very endearing - and you can learn a lot about someone by asking what they collect (tangibly or intangibly) or have a special eye for.
I have mini collections of 1950s Kodak Brownie cameras, globes, vintage radios, polished stones from everywhere I've ever visited, and colored glass. Here on Foundation, I offer up digital files of my artwork for those that collect art.
Attachment to things has, like anything, dark and light sides. But without judgement, it's just a little window into what we think is important, or interesting, or just... nice and shiny. So we pick it up and keep it for a while, save it, spend it, look at it, give it away, enjoy it as long as we can.
We're all collectors.
