I’ve been thinking of you. We’ll be meeting again soon, as the nights are getting longer.

Confession: I’m feeling intimidated and terrified already. Feelings and thoughts that often make me feel powerless. There’s no resentment though. Just hope.

One more time, I’m willing to embrace you. I want it. Street lights and stars will be there to witness it. Raindrops and snow too. Filled with life and people’s journeys, as they move in front of me. My lens will be focusing on it all.

As the dark season approaches in the Northern Hemisphere, I look back to prepare myself for what’s coming. Japan has had a deep impact in my photography, specially in regards to feeling more comfortable and safe to be out photographing during the night time. Taken in Jan. 2020 in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, this capture is part of my journey to overcome a traumatic experience from the past.
