2477 is an excellent open water swimmer and trains most of the year to prepare themselves for the annual Sapphire Town Aquatics Championship. The competition sees fellow water loving Coolcats take on the challenge of completing a sprint race from the Outpost south of Sapphire Town to the island of Fortuna and back again. Competing cats are allowed to swim freestyle with no particular swimming stroke enforced.

The elite cats perform their swim strokes consummately and in doing so manage to generate a continuous low vibrating sound which, as suggested by experts, gives these cats an additional propulsion beyond what amateurs are able to achieve. This revered technique has become known as 'sea purring' and 2477 has perfected the art of performing this.

The event however is not free of danger and due its location in Kritten Bay concerned race stewards accompany the competitors in peripheral vessels, keeping watch for any sign that the legendary Kritten could be approaching. Because of this, the race takes place in early Bask - a time of the year where Kritten sightings are traditionally sparse.

2477 is also a keen diver and in the off season enjoys exploratory dives in the coastal waters near the Temple of the Lost. It was one particular descent that 2477 will always remember because it changed their perception of the world around them. Early one day, just as the papaya rays of the morning sun started to warm the surface of The Eastern Ocean 2477 took a plunge down into the turquoise tranquility of the waters beneath.

Gracefully gliding through the rainbow reef 2477 turned to notice a small cave gently luminated by the soft glow of daybreak. 2477 came up for air before diving down at speed to investigate this curious cavity. As 2477 entered the opening, the refracted light dissipated and a veil of murky water obscured their vision. A strange object however soon caught what little light broke through and it glistened with an inviting glimmer.

With lungs soon out of air and with eyes closed 2477 reached forward to pick up the object before kicking back up to the surface. 2477 held the object up above the gentle waves. It was smooth, spherical and metallic with a glassy front and a riveted rim - "Where did this thing come from?" pondered 2477. Never before had anything quite like this been seen. Instinct took over and 2477 carefully placed the object over their head.."A perfect fit! This is amazing, I think i'll keep it." concluded 2477 before making their way excitedly back to shore.

Several cats who were out early with their pets witnessed 2477 emerge from the waters. They gasped as 2477 approached in the unworldly guise. "Take a look at this!" 2477 requested as a small crowd started to gather. Do other strange objects exist? What other secrets lie beneath the waves? Only time will tell...
