I am straddling two worlds. The physical world, with its sunlit goodness and problems that can be touched and handled. And cyberspace, with its pure ideas and solutions that waft around like wisps of smoke. I am pulled in different directions. One moment I am basking in the sunlight, enjoying the warmth on my skin and the smell of fresh-cut grass. The next moment I am lost in cyberspace, feeling the weightlessness of being untethered to physical reality. It is exhilarating and confusing. What is real? What is not? Who am I, really? Am I my body? Or am I my thoughts, my ideas, my memories? If I lose my body, will I cease to exist? Or will I live on in some form, a digital ghost haunting the ether?
The world is split into two halves: the physical and the digital. We experience the physical world through our senses, touching, seeing, hearing, and smelling. The digital world is experienced through our screens, a galaxy of ones and zeroes that we can manipulate with the touch of a button. We are both physical and digital beings, existing in both worlds simultaneously. But what does it mean to be human in a world that is increasingly dominated by technology?
