The Fourth Kind

A Close Encounter of the Fourth Kind is a UFO event in which a human is abducted by a UFO or its occupants.

In 1978 a wave of UFO related events, sightings, close encounters and abductions happened in central Italy, more than 2000 were reported and 75 were officially filed by the law enforcement. The phenomenon gathered researchers and journalists from all over the world. The area is now known as the “Adriatic Triangle”. It is a big portion of central Italy spanning between Ortona, Ancona and Campo Imperatore, an highland in central Italy where the encounters still happen. I focused my research on the Campo imperatore and Pescara zones. I’ve been interviewing witnesses and collecting original footage and pictures from a local UFO research group. 44 years later no explanation has been found to the happenings in those months of year 1978. This project mixes original documents, and pictures based on the testimonies of the witnesses.
