KUMBHAKARNA is a powerful Rakshasa (demon) and younger brother of RAVANA from the Hindu epic Ramayana. He is said to have slaughtered 8000 Vanaras (the monkey army) over the course of RAMA's invasion of Lanka. He was a giant had a grand appetite and slept for months at a time. The demons had to wake him up by hitting him with weapons and blowing loud instruments and shouting in his ears.
