The kengai style or waterfall bonsai is created to imitate trees fighting against gravity and the elements, clinging to a heavy rock or mountain from the side like a waterfall. Often in nature, these trees try hard to find their natural light, bending and twisting their way in different directions, so as to get the maximum amount of light for their leaves.
