Part of a set of designs inspired by Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, or just Raphael as pretty much everyone says it. I was developing a style using pixel sorting and my own wreck techniques experimenting with Raphael's two paintings I loved the most. Trying to create something that hints at his work without doing anything other than taking some pixels and colors from it.
This second set is a rumination on Raphael's Disputation of the Holy Sacrament. That painting is kind of like The School of Athens in that it showcases thinkers from a tradition - only in this case it's theologians who argued and disputed over how the sacraments work in the ancient and medieval church. If it's hard for modern people to really grasp ancient philosophy, it's also hard for us to understand what seem like arcane and irrelevant discussions of things like sacraments. Maybe not - maybe some of us understand it, but more often than not it seems like modern people just have a taste of that world through what they know of it - they don't engage with it in detail beyond what they're forced to in school. This is why these designs show broken little bits and fragments of what was meant to be robust and enriching ideas that are just flavors now.
A series of three "sorted wrecks" in simple compositions, companion series to three others that are fragments_of_a_philosophy.
