One of the most abundant instances of digital life seen among the upper reaches of the energy column, the affectionately named Shifter is a tiny survivalist of harsh void conditions. Prolific pollinators capable of subsisting on very little energy for long periods of time, those with an interest in marine biology might be reminded of deep sea isopods that have no problem thriving in some of the most inhospitable conditions our oceans have to offer. These creatures are so well adapted to the scarce resources of their environment that exposure to the energy levels most other species need to survive may damage or kill them. It’s for this reason they are completely absent from energy column depths below level 4, which they only seldom descend to for pollination in particularly remote areas of the network.

Their form is a six faced shape decimated into 10 slabs that it spends its days shifting around to feed or travel.
