They are the largest wild mammal in North America, and Male bison (bulls) weigh up to 2,000 lbs and stand 6ft tall! Bison are big and strong, but they can also run up to a speedy 35 miles per hour. In 1884, the bison population reached its lowest point at 325 bison left in the United States. Today, there are around 500,000 bison in the US!
