For reasons I can't quite put my finger on, this pieces feels oddly...morbidly, appropriate.

Normally, I like to use muted tones and more faded colors in order to let the intricate line-work, take center stage. As you may or may not know I do all the inking with a traditional sable brush on Bristol board, and when it turns out well, that gives a work it's energy/personality. In this case though, I think brighter colors and visual chaos really serves to whole thing very well. The energy of the colors and the precise details kinda work together, I think. "The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts" is a phrase that maybe applies here. Whatever the reason, I gotta say...I'm genuinely pretty pleased with how this turned out.

Originally illustrated as a Comic-Con Exclusive/variant cover of the "The Big Stall" a collection of the Harvey Award, Eisner Award, Comicdom award nominated ,dark humor, cult favorite , my very own- Arsenic Lullaby...and it was fine at that, but personally it always seemed a bit flat to me. However as a digital work...I was able to add a few elements and add details and give it color that a printing press could never pull off...and add the chaotic fluctuation, giving it more life and energy and being a work that's far closer to what was in my head.
