I made this drawing while i was having one of those days, when everything seems to go wrong for no apparent reason. I was reminded of this character, Känkkäränkkä, from a song in my childhood that was often playing in our car, while sometimes i may have been adding some decorations to the leather seats with a ballpoint pen. According to the song Känkkäränkkä is an evil little witch that causes havoc in the household, keeps children up at night and delights in making them fight over toys and so on. It also likes to beat people with it's stick and eat.. raisins. There was also a candy named after it that came with flavours of salty liquorice and fruit , of which i enjoyed the latter better - particularly up my nose. Anyway... the appearance is inspired by figures in the candybox and the song is by Mikko Alatalo and Harri Rinne, but the origins of the character go back to 70's storybooks by Annami Poivaara. Känkkäränkkä can be quite an powerful force if you're not careful. After i had put out this image, a person approached me asking very kindly, if they could take a tattoo of my drawing. I agreed and soon got to see the amazing work the tattooist had done replicating the image. Client was pleased and so was i. They soon messaged me back though, informing me that the tattooist had made the same image on another person with slight alterations, without asking me or the client or crediting my work(that was later fixed). I got pretty upset over that, mostly on behalf of the client at first. There was quite a lot exchange of words and consulting lawyers on both sides but it didn't end up going further than that. What started as the sweetest thing, turned out leaving quite the bad taste in my mouth for a good while. Looking back though it is still pretty amazing that these two people wanted my work as a tattoo.
