“Fragments of Self” by Terence Broad presents a portrait of the artist that violently oscillates in and out of recognition, leaving only traces of likeness. Fleeting glimpses present themselves before disappearing into the ether, granting us little time to grasp the features of the artist and make sense of them. As these forms unfurl, identity becomes fluid, a mirage that only leaves an intangible presence in the mind of the viewer. The work was created using custom software developed by the artist, incorporating network bending techniques developed as part of Broad’s doctoral research.
