Maybe this could be the cover of some kind of book called Alice (or Annie?) and the Cave Prisoners. Maybe not, but i want to share with you a dream i had.
I was being guided through a set of connected caves, very dark, lit by dim lanterns. There were puddles to dodge, and as I was trying to pass one, I saw some movement in the water that made me uneasy. Then I began to see them, people tied with chains on the wet walls, crying, muttering weakly, some saying "I am innocent".
"They always say that, don't they?" I said to my guide.
He replied: "The prisoners here are actually innocent in their heads. Once they are determined to be guilty of the crime, the process consists of taking them to a dememorizing chamber that erases their memory of everything related to the crime, causes, planning if there was any, and the act itself. Then, they bring them here and imprison them. These persons feel they are innocent and do not understand their situation, that is why this punishment is one of the cruelest."
