When I first discovered this place, it was on a camping trip with my beautiful wife. We had an incredible week here at a secluded camping spot and I was absolutely blown away by the beauty of these stretches of coastline that were mostly uncrowded and pristine.

Once I discovered aerial photography, I knew I had to make the long trip back for a sunrise shoot. After six attempts and a lot of petrol money, to capture the perfect sunrise and come away with some decent, but not perfect shots, I finally scored this morning. It was incredible. I took as many photos and angles as I could of the stretch of beach known as Hyams in Jervis Bay. The whole beach lit up in an orange and pink pastel glow as the sky turned to fire in front of my eyes.

I was so lucky to be able to capture this moment as my peaceful meditation was interrupted by a large flock of noisy cockatoos announcing the sunrise to the bay. I later found out this spot is a hugely popular destination for sunrise lovers and my midweek journey was key to getting it to myself, a very rare moment I now know and appreciate. Since capturing this and many other images the place has been made a 'No Fly Zone' for drones due to a local military base operation. That makes the body of work I was able to come away with even more special.

A moment I will never forget and one I am proud to mint as my genesis piece on Makers Place. I return to this place as often as I can both physically and mentally. It provides me with beautiful tranquillity that calms my soul.
