I realized after the fact that some of my art was exploring the blurred lines between humans and machines. Specifically, I noticed that I was using AI to make things that seemed more likely to be of human origin and then modifying them in a way that seemed more likely to come from a machine. For the Love of Machines is my first piece that intentionally explores these blurred lines.
I used AI to create a psychedelic figurative piece comprised of DNA patterns. I then used software to provide feedback and pixelate the figure-- giving a sense of motion emanating from the heart and transcending the physical body. It feels both spiritual and mechanical.
The final touch was to add music that was synth-heavy that would sync to the heartbeat of the piece. Thanks to Alexi Action for the CC0 music Abstract World.
Finally, science estimates that the nerves in the human body would reach a length of 37 - 45 miles. Since 37 is a prime number, I chose 37 seconds of run time because it seemed a perfect mathematical analogy for this exploration.
