Having minted my first piece of crypto art in 2018, the landscape of blockchain art and the entire crypto space was very unknown. We were in a bear market, with Bitcoin having fallen to below $4k from its previous $20k ATH. Regulators were beginning to talk about if ETH was considered a security. Facebook was attempting to launch Libra and failed. DeFi was a new thing and writing was on the wall that it was going to be a very big deal. Everything was moving so fast and so unpredictably.

The road ahead was unknown. I was developing the beginning of the Decentral Eyes portrait series and other artworks during this time that were reflecting the blockchain movement in real-time. Technology was evolving in the blockchain asset space with the new ERC-721 taking over as the standard for the new word "NFT" (what an awful and sterile acronym to describe a digital art and collectible renaissance.)

All I could do was put one foot in front of the other and go down the path. Trusting my intuition and the shared vision of what blockchain would evolve into and how that would radically change the way digital art is collected.
