when the flowers crowded into replace her

Kate MacDonald’s collages use a combination of her own and found photography to compose surreal scenes that examine ideas of redemption, grace and metamorphosis through nature’s lens. The chair is a recurring motif in her work, suggesting both presence and absence. As Carlos Capelán once remarked to her of his own work, “It’s the perfect representation of a human being.”

Kate MacDonald is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vancouver, BC who joined the NFT community in February 2021. Her paintings, digital collages and video art have been exhibited throughout North America and Europe, and her paintings have been featured in Wired and international editions of GQ magazine. She is represented in Vancouver by the Robert Lynds Gallery and has been twice recognized as a Top Ten Digital Artist by the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA) - in 2012 and 2017.
