These photographs were taken in a "Festa Junina", a traditional Brazilian music and dance festivity held every June. Fascinated by fireworks myself, I pointed my Nikon F3 35mm camera to the sky, interested in capturing the abstractions and dreamlike quality of such explosions.

This series was also inspired by the exprimental works of Stan Brakhage and also the song "Fireworks" by Animal Collective.
