Sometimes things just have their way of working out. It was 7pm and the helicopter was still nowhere to be seen. We knew we didn't have an exact departure time--only that we had to be ready to fly anytime after 6pm. They were super busy fighting fires and rescuing some people off a glacier.

The eventual flight into the mountains was beautiful. Stunning blue rivers and lakes with golden hour sunbeams shining low through the valleys and behind mountains. Ancient glaciers loomed, broken and blue.

It was now 8:10 PM and we had just landed at camp. Blake and I helped our workshop participants setup and then we got to cooking dinner. By the time we finished, it was dark... but I noticed something in the sky. "Is that Aurora?"

Indeed, it was! And it was becoming stronger, fast. I yelled at everyone to get their cameras. Green, blue, red, purple. Every color, with moonlit peaks. To our south was STEVE and the Milky Way. It's safe to say we were in the right place at the right time!
