My world shifted when they left this physical existence. A part of my mom left with them. She still loves so hard and cares so much about the world around her but like she once told me "Briscoe no one loves you like your mom and mine is no longer here". The air doesn't feel the same and my mom is a bit heavier with her emotions. My grandparents were the glue that kept the family together and with them gone the house is slowly falling apart. I know nothing is ever the same forever but I miss them and I hope somewhere they are missing me too. One morning I was driving down the Washington coast and stopped in this random logging town. I took a walk and stumbled upon this pretty deer. It was them. It sounds silly but I could feel them there with me. I took a deep breath and spent a few minutes with them. They eventually got up and walked away and so did I. It was good to know they check in on me.
