I stood there. Immobile. Hands along my body, barely shuttering, like a reassuring whisper: « You are still alive. »

Standing in front of me, thousands of hollow eyes piled together like a kaleidoscope of melting flesh. I could see millions pieces of corpses. Their pupil staring at me.

My heart jumped in my throat, ready to plead for forgiveness in front of their accusatory stare.

I panicked. My frightened hands shuttered more. I barely breathed. « What culprit was I? » I thought, « Did I offense their virtue by plunging my obscene gaze in their misery?

I could see the imposing mountain made of eyes approaching. Suddenly. Its gaping maw opened. Ready to devour. And I stood there. And I pled. Eyes closed. Forgiveness! Forgiveness!

Fern-Weh collection image

"I came across the word ‘Fernweh’. In English it may be translated to ‘wanderlust’ which is not entirely correct. ‘Fern’ is distance, ‘weh’ is pain. I felt this pain out of nowhere and wanted it to leave."

The original story happened in 1794! But "the second narration" is my story!
